Everything’s happening at once. Ugh!
Exhausted, nothing done, at a flower
where I just saw the most beautiful bug
I thought about staying for an hour
to simply watch that spectacle of real
gold and black, indigenous art deco
on an indigenous plant. Ever feel
that you’re from the beginning of time, old
as anyone who’s felt the same warm sun?
Two rocks on the road become gray squirrels
with bushy tails. Look how they run! Here comes
a car, an awful squashing crushing world.
In a tree the squirrels mock me. They squawk
and chatter, “You can’t catch us!” On I walk.
