Marty Watt @PhilaMOCA: A Joke Told Entirely in Marble

I got on a Chinatown bus last March and went to Philly to see Marty Watt read some poems at PhilaMOCA, a great performance space in what used to be Kensington, if I remember correctly, a little northeast of Center City.

I was looking forward to hearing Marty perform; the last time I had seen him in the flesh was in the early 80s when I was passing by on Second Avenue near Saint Mark’s Church where Marty was shooting a scene from a movie called Almost You that also starred Brooke Adams and Griffin Dunne. Marty was very busy, and I was going somewhere, so I never stopped to say hello.

And here we are almost forty years later. What I include here is a piece Marty did later in the show. My camera only films for about an hour and half, and I’m afraid I didn’t get to shoot some of Marty’s later chat with the audience which ended the whole event informally with laughter. I plan on getting what I got on camera edited pretty soon. Right now, here is Marty reading A Joke Told Entirely in Marble accompanied by Maddie.
