The quiet aftermath of disaster
dangling in the sunlight in a tall tree
only decay to ever come after
falling apart vanishing in the breeze
where every now and then someone looks up
to wonder what it was that went so wrong
that what should be below is there above
not in the sky but hanging upside down.
Kite with a tail of yellow, blue and pink
triangles entangled in the branches
is sagging on its string—Who’d ever think
such a beautiful thing could end like this?
I know that whatever the reason is
it doesn’t belong there, but there it is.
