The second of the eight week poetry series “New York Poets” took place at Bowery Poetry on the 20th of January. Although it was a freezing cold night, it was well attended, and the poets Sharon Mesmer and Cecelia Vicuña gave stellar readings to an appreciative deserving audience. I cannot recommend this series enough. It’s organized and hosted by Ed Friedman and Bob Rosenthal, and everyone should get to Bowery Poetry to enjoy their efforts at least once. Not only is it historic, it’s happening fun and features many poets who’ve been participating in the downtown NYC poetry scene for as many as fifty years. Excellent perseverance is receiving its due. Sharon and Cecelia read in the Vimeo below. Enjoy.
