On February 12, 2026, I had the pleasure of attending the OVERHEAR reading hosted by Joe Elliot and Brendan Lorber at its new location in Brooklyn at 1016 Beverly Road. It’s easy for me to get to. I jump on the Q at Union Square, get off at the Beverly Road stop, walk a few blocks, and I’m there. It’s a beautiful art gallery of a space with several rooms and plenty of seats.
Joe Elliot and Brendan Lorber are entertaining savvy hosts who select poets to read together who not only compliment each other, but are very much themselves. Two of the poets, for this particular reading, needed out of town trains to get there, but in the end everyone made it and a good time was had by all.
You can hear the four poets, Ahmad Almallah, Jeffrey Nelson, Trace Peterson and Michael Ruby read in the Vimeo below. Enjoy.
