I was happy to attend the panel discussion of Ching Ho Cheng’s work at Bank’s Elizabeth Street Gallery on May 13, 2005. Ching was a friend of mine. My friend Patricia Kelly introduced me to him. She and Ching met in Paris when they lived there during the nineteen-seventies. The Paris they shared was so seminal for the both of them that Patricia and Ching became best friends.
I recorded the reading with my iPhone to document it for Patricia who was not able to attend. Below is the official recording of the event, done very well, the whole discussion. Ching’s work spans the psychedelic sixties into the AIDS ridden eighties, and has very distinct periods which are thoroughly discussed in the video. Sybao Cheng-Wilson, Ching’s sister, is part of the panel. She knows a lot. Enjoy.
