Peter Bushyeager reads Monday May 3

At the Local Knowledge Reading Series at the Parkside Lounge on May 19th, poets Vyt Bakaitis and Peter Bushyeager were featured. Peter began his reading with a poem, Monday May 3, that I had never heard him read before, but remembered reading myself in his book Citadel Luncheonette that was published in 2002. I remembered it because it’s a striking poem, and as long ago as 2002 might seem, Monday May 3 remains as fresh as it was then, satire, a glimpse of the future, which may be now, biting with tongue-in-cheek wit that Peter does so well. Kenny Angel has archived the poem in one of his hand-painted editions, and I am going to include that too. Enjoy.
