While visiting Susan Bee at the A.I.R. Gallery to record her talking about her “Days of Awe” show, a friend of hers, Buzz Spector, showed up as well. After the recording, Susan took us back into the office to show us a leporello she had just finished. A leporello is a book that opens linearly like an accordion, and the work at hand unfolded like a story with pages of water colors, drawings and collages on them, creating a unity out of disparate things and—no matter what followed what—made pleasant, surprising, enlightening sense.
In the Vimeo below, Susan Bee talks about this particular leporello. Enjoy.
