Voyages is a play by Lonely Christopher about the life of Hart Crane, seminal scenes, acts that created the poet. I love Hart Crane. I first encountered him in my romantic twenties, an inspiring poet whose life, prophetic, tragic, and profane, was very much there in his words.
On February the 3rd, a month ago today, I recorded a reading of Voyages at Torn Page. It was presented by Inter Poets Theater, directed by Lonely Christopher, and produced by Lonely and Tony Torn. Lonely Christopher’s ingenuity and verve in getting the best people involved in his work always amazes me.
Years ago, Lonely asked me if I wanted to act in Voyages, and I would have loved to, but work got in the way. That offer gave me the chance, however, to watch the development of Voyages from the first draft to the present. If you have ever wanted to know more about Hart Crane, here you have it. Wonderful words and acting. Enjoy.
